My match predictions:
Ztec vs. Trojans 10-1
Innebandy vs. Fireants 3-2 (this is only bec Deswyn is back, otherwise the tables will be turned in favour of Fireants)
So......tomorrow brings the exciting prospects of maybe seeing a brand new division champion. If the Fireants can get their act together they can put a significant dent into the now very frail armour of Inne and claim the trophy for themselves. Will they make history happen for themselves or will they hand it to prospecting favourites and defending champs Innebandy!Co.?
If Inne's last game was one to judge by the Fireants will have a lot to shout, scream and cheer about. The question posed is, are they willing to fight tooth and nail to claim what could be rightfully theirs or let it slip thru their fingers yet again. They must be having "gold fever" by now after years of trailing behind a number of clubs where they came within reach of a number of gold medals. This year yet again, here they are in the very position to clinch the title. All that stands between them and their title hopes, a mere 2 points that will put them in the lead and out of the reach of any other Div 1 team for the rest of the league duration. Can they hold out and defend what they know should be rightfully theirs?
As for Inne, it should be their trophy for the taking tomorrow, but they're really not quite out of the woods yet as they have to play their very best against a very extremely determined and cutthroat team that will stop at nothing short of blood. With all their troops home, rallied and ready to go, maybe they'll be ready. Can Sam, Deswyn, Nick, Ephraim and the Inne gang put some strange magic together and come up with some dynamic combos to pull the rug out from under the feet of the Fireants?? Only tomorrow will tell.

Playing To Survive.

Unihawks vs. Innebandy 2-3
The evening looked set to be filled with excitement as players from both teams filled the arena. Inne however were short of a few of their players..............10 minutes and counting, 5 minutes and counting, face off whistle goes and still not enough players. Finally a phone call comes in.......the voice on the other end of the line frantically conveying the message that their car full of Inne players has broken down. Ten minutes into the 1st period they show up.
Unfortunately the whole evening turned out to be very lackluster event. Hawks tried to go out with guns blazing but lacked the skill and know how of a more experienced floorball team. But what they lacked in skill and experience they made up for in sheer determination. As for Inne, if tonight was a sign of things to come, sad to say, I don't think they're taking the division title anytime soon. I think it's time they rethink their strategy and game play. If they're to take on the Fireants and hope to win they'll have to work way harder than they have been. Maybe this will be a wake up call for them to not just rest on their laurels and expect everything handed to them on a platter.
For the Fireants, this game just served up a glimmer of hope for the division title. All they need right now is to keep focused as they run the final leg of their race this Tuesday. Again, it all boils down to Tuesday.......it'll be a battle that only the coolest of heads that will finally win.

A Stinging Blow

For Ztec, the evening was meant to be just another clinical game but for the bullets it was more than just that. It was a matter of pride. Altho' they had technically already lost to Ztec based on points they weren't going down without a fight. What a fight it was as they pushed themselves to the best of their ability to make known that they weren't mere "push-overs". For such a young team, they played with maturity beyond their years. For Ztec, you could tell that there was content written on all their faces as they played a relaxed game unlike the one they played against the Eagles.
As dark clouds loomed outside the arena, inside some other sort of darkness was brewing as the Spartans were going into battle to keep their spot at the top of their table in Div 1. The army of Ants were also prepped, ready and also seeking a comeback spot to the very place they were so rudely knocked off in their quest for division domination. It all seemed a little too ominous as both teams went into huddles to psych their teams.
The audience were entertained as they witnessed a very thriling tight game between the two teams. Each trying to outdo the other with every move and floorball skill, both fairly evenly matched. The heroes of Sparta, unfortunately, did not forsee the strength of the venom that was pulsing thru their veins which left them weakened with every stinging blow. In the times when the Spartans were most vulnerable, the Ants struck hard and left no prisoners. With the final strike they took the Spartans out of the equation in the medal run for gold.
The Ants will be looking at making history for themselves as well if they were to win the Div. 1 title and will definitely be pulling out all the stops for their final game against Inne. The question is will they be fielding their line 1 for the first 10 mins again? Don't miss the much anticipated game to be played on Tuesday the 1st of April, 8:15pm......and by the way.....it is really happening and isn't an April Fool's joke.

The Great Clean Up.

Tonight the Eagles came in for the final swoop to snatch our last game for a complete shut out and a clean sweep of the division title. We knew what had to be done and exactly how we wanted to do it. With the precision of a skilled surgeon with scalpel in hand we came in to the game and cut open a huge cavity into the opponents heart. LOL.......that's what we'd like to think we did. Unfortunately it was more like having Dr. Quack operate.....super messy and unprecise. The lack of skill and experience from both goalkeeper and players made it a huge disadvantage for the Bullets as the Eagles kept diving in for the kill. The Eagles knew it, saw it and took complete advantage of it.
We're looking forward to claiming the next division title. The one that should be ours already.

The Great Intense Stand-Off.

Spartans vs. Innebandy 5-5
The first game proved to be a little more difficult for the Bullets to take charge of as they struggled to find the back of the Trojans net. Credit goes to the Trojans as they scored the opening goal. Unfortunately they couldn't hold their lead for as long as they would've liked. They went on to concede two goals before the last whistle went. If they had their entire team playing I think it would've made a huge difference. Playing with only one and a half lines they managed to stave off constant attacks from the Bullets and even managed a few great counter attacks. A BIG "well done" to both junior teams.
Amazingly, the game between Spartans and Inne was a nail biter from start to finish. Like the guys from Brave Heart fighting and getting pushed back and then fighting back some more, it was a see-saw game. Just when you thought that the main character played by Mel Gibson was going to kick butt you get his best friend giving him up to the enemy on the battlefield and the tables are turned and there's a truce for a brief moment in time. This was how it was tonight as both teams wouldn't admit defeat.
Tomorrow, the final game for the Eagles as we seal our place as Div. 2 Champs and maybe a complete shut-out if we win all our games.

Across The Continent.
Coming from Canada and growing up as a player and big fan of ice hockey I was overjoyed to find out that Malaysia had a sport very close to floor hockey in floorball. It is a very challenging game in many ways! I enjoy the intensity and the competition that come with it as well as the new skills that you need to develop. Malaysian’s have a real love for the sport and it is great to see so many young people out playing it. Pat Rogers

Super Tension.

The scene at the arena was charged with anticipation as the teams took their place on court waiting for the whistle to go. The moment it went till the last one was blown it looked like a scene from "Lord Of The Rings" where the two forces met, collided and did furious battle with each other. Both not letting up as they knew if one did that would've been the end for them surely. Each blow was met and challenged by another. Each fighting tooth and nail to keep their sanity and composure not wanting to let loose all the fires of hell's fury show. Through it all, amazingly enough, the Eagles prevailed.......just clutching on to the small lead that we had by the skin of our teeth.
The Ants/Hawks game was also another exciting game. The Ants stung fast and furious and soon the Hawks found themselves trailing 10-1. But what a try at a comeback. The last 7 minutes of the games saw a determined Hawks team fight back with abandon and they were duly rewarded for their hard work. Unfortunately for them a little too much a little too late.
To the Ztec team........our sincere apologies to you guys if we offended you guys in any way at all. I hope all the ill feelings will be left on the court to die. Like I said....our is an open invitation to you all. :-)

Soaring To New Heights

Eagles vs. Trojans 17-0
There was a buzz at the arena today as the Eagles got ready to play the Trojans..........from all the mosquitos!!! We had all of 3, yes THREE spectators and a million mozzies that came to witness the shut-out.
Today we made PFA history as the first team to go over the 15 point mark as we tucked away 17 goals without a reply. Did it make us happy? Sure.......but we know that we're meant to be in a total different category playing against a different kettle of fish so to speak. As the Switchfoot song goes......."we were meant to live for so much more".
Drew and Reagan had a field day with if I'm not mistaken 5 goals each. The rest was a blur, without making small the efforts of the rest of the Dalat team. It was truly team effort that gave us the win even with only one and a half lines playing.
Thanks for your hard work and dedication guys, just two games left. Keep it up!!!

It was a nite where Rambo was in town, or felt like it. It looked as if he decided to pull out the M60 and gun everything down in his path. Where are all the bad guys...watch out and get out of the way before you're cut down to shreds. Both games looked and felt like it was dominated by the "home" teams.
Dalat started out a little sluggish the first period but proceeded to take control of the 2nd period. Unfortunately the goal post also saw lots of action as the ball kept pinging off it to deny a handful of players. Having a number of our players sick and or recovering from ailments did not stop the team, but instead fielding a fairly incomplete team gave us an opportunity to fine tune a few things.
As for the Spartan/Unihawks game, the Hawks tried to swoop in for the kill and seemed like they were going to give the Spartans a run for their money. Spartans drawing first blood fairly early in the game only to get a stinging reply within a minute or two. Unfortunately, the storm proved to be more of a hurricane for the Hawks as they struggled to keep possession of the ball. On the other hand, the Spartans, a little more seasoned and experienced pulled out their anti-aircraft guns and shot the Hawks down before they could even really take off.
All in all fairly entertaining games........but tomorrow holds another mystery as the Eagles continue their quest for "world domination".....oklah.......Div 2 domination to hopefully take our rightful place in Div 1 where we should be.

IN THE ABSENCE OF ICE
For a Canadian kid who grew up ice skating as soon as he could walk, figure skating at age two, and ice hockey at age four, living in Malaysia without any frozen ponds or local arenas with indoor ice is a radical departure from my life experiences. I either played hockey, watched hockey, or talked about hockey – even in the summers when we played road hockey using tennis balls on the pavement – twelve months of the year. While I really miss this, I have really enjoyed a similar sport in floorball. While many rules differ significantly from ice hockey, which frequently has caused me to ‘cool my heels’ in the penalty box, learning and participating in the local floorball league has been a rewarding experience. Meeting local and KL players has been great, giving me a chance to become acquainted with a great group of people outside of my normal connection points at Dalat. The competition can be intense, and passions get heated; but this is a thrilling part of the sport. Floorball athletes here work hard to learn the sport and develop their skills, and they and their supporters promote their teams enthusiastically. So while there are no hockey arenas in Penang, and the National Hockey League cannot be viewed on Astro, I’m not adrift in the absence of ice!

Clash Of The Titans.

OK, now that you know I'm a movie buff......if you didn't, now you do.
Anyway, I guess you can't win 'em all as far as my wonderful predictions and forecasts go. That's what makes life interesting. If every prediction came true that would make for a super boring life.
Boring games was definitely the last thing that we had last nite. Altho the Trojans were trounced by Ztec, they played hard and fought valiantly to keep the deficit to a minimum. Perseverance would be the key word for them. They've had an uphill battle, with such a young team playing together. They were severely short of their key players but yet made the effort to stay composed. Ztec had the upper hand, saw the opportunity and seized the moment. They played a fairly organized game and picked the Trojans apart piece by piece.
The FireAnts/Inne game was absurdly fun to referee and I'm also sure to watch. Never a dull moment in the entire 1hr of the game, yes, we had so many stops that it ended up taking that long. A few mishaps here and there, but what's a game without some of those right? It was for the first time like watching a decent professional floorball game at APAC or the WFC. Fairly fluid and fast movements from both teams. Both fought and defended well, each fighting not to give in or admit defeat. Before the match started Linken (their Manager) came over and said, "We're gonna prove your predictions wrong tonight." Unfortunately for the FireAnts, Inne were out for blood this time. Reaching in to the very depths they mustered every ounce of fight they had and let it all loose and it paid off for them.
The next question for them is, do they have anymore fight left in them after last nite? I guess only time will tell.

When Push Comes To Shove
Ztec vs. Eagles 3-4
If Russel Crowe were at the arena tonight he would have been proud of both teams. Looking like a scene out of "Gladiator", where every man was for himself, the arena looked like a battlefield from people pushing or shoving and just short of kicking, stabbing or killing each other.
It was unbelievable!! Both teams played absolutely awesomely rotten floorball. If there was a judge on how "pretty" it was we would have been given a 1 out of 10 (10 being the perfect score that is).
Dalat, having not prepped themselves at all by talking or warming up together went in to the game completely unprepared. We didn't even have our lines ready when the face off whistle first blew. It totally showed the first period. Fortunately for us we scored two good goals when we did.
Being given just a 5 minute break between periods proved to be a lifesaver. That made all the difference as we could consolidate and talk thru all we needed to do to raise the standard a little higher to clinch our second game.
To be fair to Ztec the game could've gone either way tonight.....so we look forward to playing the next game. Eh.......don't push so much lah.......ok :-)

What's Your Forecast??
Sunday looks like it's not coming around fast enough. Eagles are waiting to sink their talons into a super game. We had to wait for Termin to come back from his NS training where he was being fattened for the kill..........lol...........A very long absence from floorball for him but I'm sure every inch of muscle in him is crying out to play. Craziness you might call it but yes it's true.......Floorball Crazy!!!!
Who knew that this day would come when brother would be fighting brother in the floorball arena for the division title? Once members of our Dalat Eagles team now having formed their own team to further spread the love for the game. These guys have taken the bold step to form their own team and train their guys from scratch. The guys I'm talking about Termin, Moy, Jo-Wyee, Ken Wye, Oliver and gang.
We are super proud of you and we look forward to a great game.

Action Nite!!
Final score
Bullets vs. Ztec 1-4
Innebandy vs. Unihawks 8-2
A fairly close prediction if I'd say so myself. Both games were played well and hard by all four teams.
The difference between the Bullets first game and last nites was that they shot themselves in the foot when they stopped taking charge like they did the first game against the Trojans but rather decided that they wanted to attack more. Unfortunately for them it didn't quite work and they lost their fiery sting.
The pin that broke the camels back in the second game was just the lack of experience on the part of the Hawks.....they did a superb job of fighting back and had a number of great counter attacks. Inne however, with all their years of experience lacked a lot of communication with each other. Something that maybe Linken, who is currently their "coach" can work on with them to improve as they work at getting back their title.

Predictions??
Tonight's predictions we're looking at Ztec playing all out and maybe getting a score of 5-2 against the Bullets. Altho' Termin isn't around to be the backbone of the team I think they might be able to hold their own well.
As for the Innebandy/ Unihawks game we're looking at Innebandy gunning for gold to be close to the top of the leader board with the Fireants coz they know if they lose this game they'll be a little too far behind to catch up. As for score predictions we're looking at a 8-3 score in favour of Innebandy.

A Night Wrought With Drama.
Trojans vs. Dalat Eagles 0-9
Fireants vs. Spartans 3-2
Within just 2 minutes of the Trojans-Eagles game kicking off, our Captain (Yeoh Jun Wooi) slipped and fell so hard on his head that it put him into a seizure and everything came to a grinding stop. For the next 20 minutes while awaiting anxiously for an ambulance to show up, everyone at the arena were silently sending up a prayer for him. Two ambulances finally show up at the Dalat school campus simultaneously from different hospitals.
Riding in the ambulance with him to the hospital was another story. With sirens blaring from the moment we left the campus to the time we got in to the hospital it took us 20-30minutes to go just a mere 10km. UNBELIEVABLE!!! The traffic in Penang is unrelenting and stubborn.....the cars just wouldn't budge. If the situation was more critical the patient would have died on the way there.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, we got to the hospital and got all the necessary checks done and the neuro surgeon says that Jun Wooi's doing fine. They're keeping him overnight for observation but will probably release him tomorrow to go home.
